Cork is set to come alive in the next few days with the arrival of nearly 5,000 singers from all over the world for the 62nd Cork Choral Festival, which kicks off today until the 1st May.
As part of the event there will be 6 ticketed gala events, as well as nearly 100 free events taking place throughout the city including Friendship Concerts, Fringe Concerts, a Choral Trail and a Symposium.
When it comes to vacations in Ireland, the Cork International Choral Festival is an internationally-renowned and one of the most popular, much-loved choral festivals. One of the oldest festivals in Cork, the Cork Choral Festival will include Gala Concerts, Workshops, Free Outdoor Performances, School Concerts as well as National and International Competitions over the next few days.
The Festival is also set to spill out to the streets of Cork in the next few days including many impromptu performances in pubs, restaurants, churches, libraries and hotels in Cork– wherever you turn you are guaranteed a harmony of voices!
The Opening Gala Concert features Seán Ó Riada’s, Mise Éire Suite as well as the incomparable “Real Group” from Sweden, Chamber Choir Ireland Gala Concert along with the ethereal sounding White Raven and the International Fleishmann Gala choir competition.
Commenting, Sinead Dunphy, Festival Manager, said, “The event, which attracts almost 50,000 to Cork over the weekend, is the perfect chance for locals and visitors alike to enjoy a fantastic line-up of the best choirs and voices from around the world. We hope everyone joins in the fun.”
