The Annual Cape Clear Storytelling Festival

Situated off the South West coast of Ireland, Cape Clear Island is Ireland’s southernmost inhabited island, located just 8 miles off the coast of Baltimore in West Cork.  Now in its 20th year, the annual Storytelling Festival takes places from the 5th until the 7th September.  In beautiful surroundings, it is a festival where Irish and International storytellers and musicians meet to perform.  The scenery, folklore and uniqueness of the island set this festival apart from other festivals.

For those planning a trip to Ireland, this festival promises not to disappoint as it has become one of the most renowned festivals in the world storytelling calendar.  Each of the three days offers a variety of activities for those taking a vacation in Ireland. Six different venues are chosen for the events and concerts and the stunning unpararelled scenery of the Ireland, guarantees a unique atmosphere for those in search of “storytelling with a difference”.

Each year some of the world’s most accomplished tellers are invited to perform. Free events include performances such as “Hear all Tellers”, kid’s workshops, heritage walks along the island, open air story swaps, set dancing as well as a storytelling concert.  Paid events include the ever popular main storytelling concerts and a storytelling boat trip around the beautiful island in West Cork.
