National Ploughing Championships 2013

The National Plough Championships has grown in size year on year since its inception some 80 years ago, becoming much more than just an annual inter-county competition; the National Ploughing Championships have become a part of Irish life and includes competitions, exhibitions, demonstrations, trade stands, events and much more.

Taking place in County Laois from the 24th – 26th September, the National Ploughing Championships is Ireland’s farming festival and one of Europe’s largest outdoor exhibitions and agricultural trade shows as it looks to yet again attract in excess of 185,000 local and international visitors on vacation in Ireland.

At the heart of the National Ploughing Championships are the ploughing competitors that compete over the 3 days to win the All-Ireland Titles and qualify for International competitions such as the World and European Championships, and although the National Ploughing Championship is renowned for showcasing the very best of Irish farming and culture, it also includes a tented trade village, a food fair, craft village, livestock, motor show, fashion shows, celebrity guests, sheep dog trials, craft demonstrations, music, entertainment and much more.

An event that is sure to keep the whole family entertained, this September 24th, 25th and 26th, make sure you visit Ratheniska in County Laois and soak up the atmosphere of this prestigious event!
