Surfers flock to Ireland’s west coast in search of big waves

This Weekend Surfers from all over the world will join our own Irish surfers in search of the biggest waves this winter that are expected to hit Ireland’s west coast.

Delighted surfers are monitoring winds to see if conditions are favouring the waves that are scheduled for Ireland’s west coast, in particular the areas of Donegal Bay off County Sligo, which could see waves of up to 30 feet, the biggest of the winter so far.

With excitement bubbling amongst hardcore surfers hoping to catch that ultimate wave, this weekend’s waves have some target to beat, with the biggest waves to date to hit Ireland recorded last December when a 67 foot wave was registered around 60 miles off the coast of Donegal!
