The Connemara Four Seasons Winter Walking Festival

The festive season may be upon us but that shouldn’t deter visitors and those enjoying a vacation in Ireland from experiencing the great landscapes and vistas that the Emerald Isle has to offer. One such event in Ireland over the Christmas period that gives visitors a chance to explore the stunning West of Ireland is The Connemara Four Seasons Winter Walking Festival between the 24th and 26th December.

The festival offers walking enthusiasts of all levels and abilities the opportunity to explore the beautifully rugged and wild area of Connemara in County Galway, with its spectacular catalogue of untouched scenery, mountains, beaches and islands.

Keem Bay, Achill Island: the breathtaking beauty on this five star beach has inspired artists like Paul Henry and Graham Greene to the area.

The festival has proved to be a popular attraction for tourists and keen walkers over the years with the spaces for each of the seasonal walking festivals filling up quickly. Well known archaeologist Michael Gibbons will acts as the guide for each of the walks and he has specially selected each of the routes. Mr. Gibbons provides a unique insight into the local area’s historic and cultural heritage with a range of challenging walks.

Appropriate walks are selected for each of the four seasonal events to showcase the Connemara landscape during the autumn, winter, spring and summer months.
