As promised we research another family name. The roots of the Lyons family are said to have been taken from the County Galway name of Ó Laighin which means ‘grey’.

It could also be a variant of the Irish Ó Liatháin name from County Cork.

    My Great Grandfather was James Ford from Co Kildare town of Crookstown left Ire approx 1840/45 settled I Johnstown Cambrua Co. PA USA married Katherine Murrin in 1860at St. John of Gault R.C. church. She was from Rathanagen, believe her Father was Thomas Murrin and her Mother was Mary O’Connel.
    I have tried for years to find my Great Granfather whom I believe was named Rory and his wife believed to be Honour Kelly. would love to trace them
