Ireland’s national tourism agency, Tourism Ireland, has produced a new online video to help promote the Limerick City of Culture’s flagship event… Royal de Luxe’s The Giant’s Journey. The Limerick City of Culture is a year long celebration which is sure to be of interest to those planning vacations in Ireland for the remainder of 2014.
The French street theatre company is coming to Limerick for three days in September. It is expected that they will be putting a massive show with crowds in excess of 200,000 expected to come to Limerick City for the spectacle.
The video was commissioned by Tourism Ireland and awarded to Piquant Media in Limerick who were entrusted to create the online teaser film. It is hoped that the video will appeal to an international audience via Tourism Ireland’s YouTube, Facebook, Twitter platforms as well as on Ireland.com.
The 60 second film features the giant, elaborate marionettes of Royal de Luxe making their way through the streets of Nantes in France. It is hoped that the video will give viewers a sense of what is to be expected once the spectacular pageant lands on the banks of the River Shannon this autumn and urging prospective travellers everywhere to “join us in Limerick”.
“We are delighted to unveil this second online film, highlighting the flagship event of Limerick City of Culture and whetting people’s appetites to come and visit,” said Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, who worked with City of Culture to produce the film.
“It really is a fantastic coup for Limerick that Royal de Luxe will bring its world-famous street theatre to the city. It is sure to be a huge spectacle and we are inviting people around the world to come and experience it for themselves.”
The online video provides Limerick with an opportunity to utilise the significant kudos of Tourism Ireland and focus the global spotlight on the city and showcase Limerick as a cultural and historic destination during its year long celebrations.
The partnership with Tourism Ireland helps spread the word internationally about Limerick City of Culture and the visit of the world’s best street theatre company, Royal de Luxe.
