The now famous 2500km Wild Atlantic Way route, along the West Coast of Ireland is set to feature in a top US adventure sports TV series, Facing Waves. The TV feature is set broadcast into 8 million US homes in the next few months, further promoting the route in a bid to encourage people to plan a trip to Ireland.
Ultimately the series is set to broadcast to over 50 million homes due to a syndication to 25 other countries around the world. This popular TV series takes adventurer traveller viewers to the world’s top sporting destinations, whilst exploring the regions and what makes them unique.

In addition the route is found to appeal to adventure travellers planning a vacation in Ireland as beaches along the Wild Atlantic Way route were chosen as a top “stand-up paddling” destinations on NBC’s Universal Sports Channels in the United States. Beach areas along the West Coast also featured on North America’s only paddle-sports TV series which regularly showcases sea paddling locations around the world. In 2014 the “first lady of stand up paddle fitness”, Nikki Gregg from Ohio, visited beaches in the Sligo area and in particular the famous Mullaghmore wave, along with Doolin and Liscannor in County Clare, located just beside the famous Wild Atlantic Way route.
