Ireland makes Lonely Planet’s Top 10 countries for 2015

The globally revered travel publication, Lonely Planet, has picked a vacation to Ireland in its Top 10 countries to visit in 2015. Ireland was ranked at number five of the travel publication’s Top 10 finishing behind destinations such as Singapore, Namibia, Lithuania and Nicaragua.

The Lonely Planet’s Ireland expert Fionn Davenport paid special attention to one of Ireland’s newest attractions – Wild Atlantic Way. This 2500km scenic drive snakes its way round every nook and crook of the Ireland’s western seaboard from County Donegal to County Cork.

Though acknowledging that modern Ireland is a vibrant and sophistication destination offering many of the trappings of any top European location, the Lonely Planet noted that:

Ireland is stunningly scenic, its traditions – music, dance, whiskey and beer – firmly intact.

The Wild Atlantic Way- Ireland’s newest and biggest attractions.

2015 will see a big focus on the promotion of the Wild Atlantic Way, a 2500km scenic route for visitors on a par with Pacific Coast Highway  in California and Australia’s Great Ocean Road. Those enjoying a trip to Ireland can commence their journey with a feast of crab claws in Inishowen and reward your endeavours with some smoked salmon in Kinsale. Along the way, explore Connemara, the Aran Islands, the music bars of County Clare and the scenic splendours of County Kerry.
