For those enjoying a vacation in Ireland and seeking accommodation that’s a little different then Fáilte Ireland will be introducing a new category for “innovative, quirky or unusual” accommodation providers in Ireland.
With the provision of tourist accommodation continually evolving, Fáilte Ireland felt that the proposed ‘Welcome Standard’ which will cater for accommodation providers offering glamping, pods and log cabins. Many of these businesses don’t fit into its existing standards which focus mainly on Irish B&B’s and hotels.
It’s felt that the new standard recognises the ever evolving changes in visitor tastes and the range of accommodation types now on offer in Ireland. Since its introduction, there has already been over 80 operators who have indicated their interest in the new scheme.
Fáilte Ireland’s Chairman, Michael Cawley, announced the new framework by stating:
“Many successful, high quality accommodation businesses in Ireland are providing a great experience for their guests but sadly do not fit within the traditional Fáilte Ireland quality framework and, as a result, have been unable to work with Fáilte Ireland in the past,”
“This new standard will rectify this situation and is designed to embrace these businesses for their benefit as well as for the benefit of visitors and Irish tourism.”
The newly qualified accommodation providers that achieve the standard will be allowed to display the ‘Welcome Standard’ logo on their property and supplementary marketing material. The added bonus for such businesses is that they will also be included in the various Fáilte Ireland marketing activities, including the ever popular Discover Ireland website.
