The popular Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival is set to make a popular return from the 25th until the 27th September.
The Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival is just one of the many festivals that has taken place in Galway in 2015. Popular with a wide mix of visitors to Ireland, from families to stag parties, Galway is now known as the cultural capital of Ireland. Each year the city boasts record numbers of visitors from near and afar, all seeking the artistic, bohemian and cultural ambiance that resides there.
The Galway International Oyster Festival is set to kick off with the Irish Oyster Opening Championships on Friday the 25th September at 7pm. Join the festival parade on Saturday 26th September, which commences at Eyre Square at 1:30pm and make your way to the festival marquee. The parade is followed by much acclaimed World Oyster Opening Championship where 17 international competitors complete to be the world champion. The festival is set have a full itinerary of live music, oyster tasting as well as tasting various dishes from the festival kitchen.
The popular and glamorous Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball is also set to take place on Saturday night at the Radisson Blu Hotel where guests can indulge in a pre-dinner reception with oysters and bubbles, followed by a four course evening meal and dancing until late.
On Sunday the 27th September the Féile Bia Na Mara features cooking demonstrations as well as an array of kid’s entertainment including a circus skills workshop, a flea circus, face painting and of course oyster shell painting!
