One of Ireland’s largest Irish language festivals takes place in Sligo between the 1st & 7th March. Seachtain na Gaeilge is a celebration of Irish language and culture with numerous entertaining and fun events, from intimate music sessions to large scale concerts, from literature to sport in Ireland, from theatre to conversation exchange.
The festival gives those on a vacation in Ireland an opportunity to enjoy Irish, whether you are a fluent speaker, learner, have ‘cúpla focal’ or no Irish at all.
The great thing about Seachtain na Gaeilge is that all events are hosted by voluntary and community groups, local authorities, schools, libraries, and music, sports, arts and cultural organisations.
As the tagline for the festival states ‘Irish is for everyone’.
