The principal aim of the Cork International Choral Festival since its inception in 1954 was to become a dynamic force in fostering choral music throughout Ireland. This choral festival in Cork takes place over a five day period preceding the first Monday in May.
This years festival will be taking place between 27th April & 1st May at venues throughout Cork City and County including Cork City Hall.
Cork will welcome choirs from across the globe for an exciting programme of Gala concerts, schools’ concerts, National and International competitions, and world-class performances. It is expected that as thousands of participants will making the trip to Ireland to help create a unique vibrancy for the celebration of choral music in all its many forms.
As one of the premier international choral festivals in Europe, the Cork festival has a reputation for its high choral standards, eclectic and wide-ranging programme, and warm welcome to the visiting participants. Festival events and performances centre around Cork’s City Hall – one of the most attractive and acoustically superb Irish music venues.
Each year the festival witnesses some of the finest amateur international choirs as they compete for the prestigious Fleischmann International Trophy. The selected choirs also participate in a wide range of festival events, which include Fringe concerts, and informal performances for the general public which see choirs popping up throughout the city and county in new and unexpected locations throughout this exciting festival in Ireland!
