As the May Bank holiday weekend approaches, the beautiful historic town of Kinsale situated on the southern coast of Ireland in County Cork prepares itself for the world renowned Kinsale Sevens!
A fun weekend for all – year on year the Kinsale sevens attracts players and visitors from around the world, some of whom decide to incorporate it into their friends and family vacation in Ireland.
The tournament started back in 1998, with at that time only 12 teams playing, but such was the enjoyment and enthusiasm for the event from all who participated that there was no going back and as such the event was permanently marked in the calendar!
Ideal for rugby enthusiasts or those just looking to get caught up in the atmosphere of the 2 day event, the Kinsale Sevens is a great way to watch in some rugby and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Kinsale, which is just a short drive from Cork city.
With 150 matches to be played across the 2 days, there is plenty of opportunity to view one of the 7 aside rugby played on one of the 5 pitches. Matches start at 10am Saturday and Sunday, finishing Sunday at 6pm and concluding with a festival in Kinsale that evening.
