Dublin will soon get a new restaurant, as top celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is set to open a new Italian themed restaurant this autumn in Dundrum Town Centre, creating approximately 75 new jobs for local people to join their team of chefs and front of house staff.
Oliver, who opened the Taste of Dublin festival last weekend at Iveagh Gardens, has a great fondness for Dublin City, and his team are indentifying food suppliers and producers as they look to source lots of Irish produce for the new restaurant.
The new restaurant in Dublin city will be about affordable, good food, carrying on the ethos he has created with his high street restaurant collection ‘Jamie’s Italian’, which is popular across the UK and within his Fifteen restaurant group, which was founded in 2002, and provides training for young people in three locations around the world.
Likeable Essex boy Oliver, 37, is one of the most famous chefs of his generation, first featuring in a TV documentary about the River Cafe and soon afterwards in his own show, The Naked Chef. His first book of the same name was a big hit and instant bestseller and he has since gone on to publish numerous more books and appear in numerous television series and documentaries.
A popular destination for a Dublin Stag Do, Dublin boasts a exciting nightlife and an abundance of activities on offer. Locals and visitors on vacation in Ireland will surely be flocking to his new restaurant in Dublin this autumn, as Oliver known throughout the world is continually being apraised for his cooking and dedication to educating the world about the importance of health eating in children.
In fact just a few weeks ago at the end of May, Oliver was presented with the Healthy Cup Award from Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The honorary award for his work in the fight against childhood obesity was presented by Dr. Walter Willett, chair of Harvard School of Public Health’s Department of Nutrition, professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and the leading scientist in the battle against obesity.
The 500 strong crowd made up of nutritionists, professors, chefs and foodies cheered as Jamie explained that while he didn’t have all of the answers and even though the world is still heading in the wrong direction on obesity-related diseases, he remained hopeful adding good health is a basic human right and that most of the time, all of us will make great decisions if we’re informed properly.
