Beginning in 1978, the Galway Arts Festival has become the largest international arts festival. Galway city is an old one where you will find streets, squares and waterways dating back to medieval times. It is located on and was located on the west coast of Ireland – making it the perfect county to host an arts festival.
The Festival spans across a variety of genres from around the world and the Irish talent and includes music genres such as popular, contemporary, jazz, world, classical and traditional. Theatre, visual arts, dance, talks, discussions, family events and comedy are also heavily represented.
This years festival is shaping up to be best yet. Christy Moore, Chic, The Coronas are just a few of the music acts who will perform. With Propeller Henry V, DruidMurphy (the story of Irish emigration) and Frank Pig Says Hello (stage adaption of the Butcher Boy).
