US property developer and entrepreneur Donald Trump has confirmed the news that he has purchased the iconic Doonbeg Golf Club in County Clare. It was also confirmed that Doonbeg Golf Club will be rebranded as the “Trump International Golf Links, Ireland” in a similar to his other Celtic golf resort near Aberdeen in Scotland. Following the announcement Mr Trump went on to say:
“I am thrilled to announce that we have purchased yet another incredible golf resort. From Trump National Doral, Miami to Trump International Golf Links, Scotland, known as ‘the greatest golf course in the world,’ we only have the best. Doonbeg is an already terrific property that we will make even better – it will soon be an unparalleled resort destination with the highest standards of luxury,”
As the renamed Trump International Golf Links, Ireland, the links course is spread over 400-acres fronting for 2 ½ miles on the Atlantic Ocean and features an 18-hole championship course. Mr. Trump will be aiming to attract increased visitors from the US and Europe seeking golf vacations in Ireland and those discerning travellers in search of luxury golf hotels in Ireland.
