Taking place at the end of June from the 28th – 30th, is Drogheda’s Samba Festival, a three day celebration of the Samba music, dance and costume with workshops, open air entertainment and music, pub gigs and a fantastic carnival parade.
Very much an established festival, the Drogheda Samba Festival began in 1994 as part of the Drogheda 800 celebrations and proved such a hit become an annual event and reunion for members of Samba groups all over Ireland, the UK, mainland Europe as well as some from as far away as Sao Paulo and Singapore!
Dubbed the friendliest Samba Festival in Europe and with most events free and family friendly, it’s no wonder so many travelling Samba groups and visitors on Ireland Vacations flock to partake in the festivities in Drogheda and to be involved in some magnificent Latin and African music and dance, as well as exclusive festival events such as Samba Mass and Salsa Night.
