Taking place on the October bank holiday weekend, 26th – 29th October 2012, the Guinness Cork Jazz Festivals is one of Ireland’s major arts and culture events.
Attracting visitors from all over the world, many of whom stay for a longer Ireland Vacation to take in the sights and surrounding beautiful countryside of Cork, the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival is one of the best Jazz festivals in Europe.
Year-on-year the festival continues to grow bigger and better and in the past has attracted some of the biggest names in jazz, including Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and many more.
This year there is a fantastic offering of free music and ticketed events at venues around Cork City with the likes of De La Soul playing the Opera House, Roy Hargrove quintet and Gregory Porter performing at the Everyman Theatre, Phronesis playing Triskel Christchurch, Pokey Lafarge and the South City Three playing at Crane Lane, Cathy Davey at Cyprus Avenue, Hot 8 Brass Band performing at the Bodega, Slow Motion Heroes on at An Brog, UV5 playing the Old Oak, Donna Dunne performing at The Oliver Plunkett, Zeppo on at Imperial Hotel, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble playing The Pavilion, Beat N Blow at Rearden’s, Brian Hanlon playing The Woodford and Pontius Pilate and The Naildrivers performing at The Bowery, and many more artists performing live over the weekend.
