At the end of this month, between Friday 28th and Sunday 30th September, Galway celebrates its International Oyster and Seafood Festival.
An annual event, this is possibly one of the most international recognised food festivals in Ireland and the world’s longest running oyster festival.
As always throughout the festival there will be plenty of events to tantalise the taste buds such as the seafood trail of Galway’s restaurants, Taste of the Sea, national oyster opening competition, wine master class and the world famous Galway oyster beds and heritage workshops!
With live bands all weekend, much to see and try at the food village and within the festival marquee, Galway yet again proves why this festival has featured prominently in international media throughout the years and is one of the international events that attracts visitors from overseas.
In fact many visitors here on vacation in Ireland often combine attending the International Oyster and Seafood Festival with exploring the local area and visiting some of the wonderful attractions in Galway City as well as the nearby beautiful area of Connemara and the unique Aran Islands.
