The colourful, scenic and vibrant town of Kinsale is hosting on one of Ireland’s biggest art events this week. Bringing a range entertainment and excitement to the West Cork town, this festival is set to take place until the 28th September.
The festival now in its 10th year is ideal for those taking a vacation in Ireland. The large crowd it attracts from all over the country has made it a huge success. Big names which have opened the Arts Festival over the past few years include Hollywood Actor and Cork based actor Jeremy Irons, Jonathan Rhys Myers, Jean Kennedy amongst others.
Activities planned for the remainder of the week at the festival include;
Thursday 25th of September: KFEC Amphitheatre: Tommy Tiernan – Open Mouth. The brilliant Tommy Tiernan performs live at the theatre at 8.15pm (100min incl. interval) with tickets SOLD OUT for the popular comedian.
Friday 26th of September: Actons Hotel: The Annual Festival Wine Club. This Wine Club is designed to give an introduction to a wide array wines from all around the world. This is a 2 hour session beginning at 6pm and tickets priced at €16. This is also a fundraiser in aid of RNLI Lifeboats.
Actons Hotel: David O’ Doherty – David O’ Doherty Has Checked Everything. If you are in search of a comic night out, the award-winning comedian’s show kicks off at 9pm (100min incl. interval) with tickets at €20.
Saturday 27th of September: St. Multose Church: the acclaimed singer-songwriter Lisa O’ Neill who has been described by many as ‘one of the most captivating singer-songwriters of her generation’. This rising star will perform at 8.30pm (80 min) with tickets at an affordable €16.
Avego Building: RoboSlam hosted by CoderDojo- giving people the chance to build their very own robot using ‘real’ electronic components. This much anticipated event begins at 12pm and closes at 5pm with tickets priced at €15.
Sunday 28th of September: Kinsale Town and Short Quay- A free event gets under way at 1pm with wonderful local produce to sample. An event not to be missed!
The Black Pig Wine Bar & Cafe: Banter with Nuala O’ Connor – The Dingle, County Kerry-based writer and producer is set to give an insight into her recent work. Nuala has been behind, some of the most compelling and well- known Irish documentaries. Tickets are €8 and the series of talks being at 3pm.
