After a one year break, the popular music festival Oxegen returns to Punchestown Racecourse in Kildare but with some significant changes to its format! The first big change is that it will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, as oppose to a weekend in July and the second big change is that it will take place over 2 days instead of 3 as before!
The official line up will not be announced for another few weeks, but it’s been rumoured that Elton John, Eminem and Snoop Dogg are all on the bill for Ireland’s biggest music festival.
Attracting huge names in its history, some of the world’s biggest bands and pop stars have taken to the Oxegen stage including Lady Gaga, Primal Scream, Snow Patrol and the Killers, and more recently at Oxegen in 2011, the Black Eyed Peas, Cold Play, Foo Fighters and Beyonce, who will return to Ireland this year to perform at Dublin’s o2 on 11th and 12th May as part of her “Mrs Carter” world tour, all performed.
The latest global superstar to announce that they will play live in Ireland, Beyonce’s announcement follows those of Jon Bon Jovi and Enimin who will both play at Slane, and Bruce Springsteen who will play at Thomond Park in Limerick, Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork and King’s Hall Area in Belfast
A wonderful year for music concerts in Ireland, whether a local or a visitor here on Ireland vacation, perhaps even here as part of the Irish gathering 2013, you really are in for a real musical treat!
