St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations in Cork

With a little over a week to go until the big St Patrick’s Day Festival, if you are looking to celebrate Ireland’s National Holiday this year, Cork city has announced a festival fit to rival Dublin’s four- day planned celebration. Cork’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival is expected to commence in the rebel county on Saturday the 14th March. The four-day event is set to run through until the 17th March with an estimated 80,000 visitors expected to visit the city whilst on a vacation in Ireland.

Planning ahead for the annual 2015 St. Patrick’s Festival

Plans just been revealed for the 2015 four-day St. Patricks’ Day Festival.  It is expected that a half a million people will attend this year’s festival, which will be led by Brendan O’Connor of Mrs. Brown’s Boys fame. Organisers of the 2015 festival are hoping that the four- day festival will generate over €120 million for the Irish economy. This year’s festival takes place from March 14 to 17 and is set to showcase street-theatre, artistic installations as well as world class events.

Trips to Ireland from overseas have increased by 9%

Trips to Ireland from the UK and North America have increased according to recent CSO figures. The figures for overseas trips to Ireland had increased by more than 123,000 (9.1%), in the period from November 2014 to January 2015 when compared with the same period 12 months previously.

Ireland is back on the world tourism map with over 7.25 visitors in 2014.

In 2014 an estimated 1.2 million visitors from the United States took a vacation in Ireland. This figure was a 15 percent from 2013 and it set a new record according to Tourism Ireland, who additionally plan to build on those numbers in 2015 with new plans to further promote the Emerald Isle.

Inchydoney in West Cork wins “Best Beach” title for the second year running

Inchydoney Beach, which is located in Clonakilty in the heart of West Cork has just been voted “Best Beach in Ireland” by Tripadvisor in their 2015 Travellers Choice Awards. The County Cork beach scooped the top position with one reviewer commenting “to walk along the beach in the warm Irish sunshine isn’t far short of wonderful”.
