2014 has seen steady growth in visitors to Ireland

There was some positive news recently after figures published by the Central Statistics Office of Ireland showed that the number of visitors who planned Ireland vacations increased during the first half of 2014.

The encouraging tourism figures, welcomed by Tourism Ireland, showed an increase of almost 10% in the numbers of overseas figures planning trips to Ireland for the first six months of 2014, resulting in an additional 324,400 visitors in comparison to the same period in 2013.

Spraoi International Festival of Street Arts

Waterford City has been hosting the renowned Spraoi International Street Arts Festival since 1993.  During this three day festival, which runs from the 1st to the 3rd of August,  residents of this medieval city take to the streets of Waterford and enjoy an international programme of street arts and spectacle where the majority of events are free.

Ireland’s first ever coffee and tea festival coming in September

The aroma of the coffee beans and tea leaves will fill the Dublin air when the first ever tea and coffee festival in September with the Dublin Tea and Coffee Festival taking place at the RDS between 12th and 14th September. It is intended that the festival will act as a precursor to Ireland being selected as host to the World Barista Championships in 2016.

Tourism Ireland brings “The Giant’s Journey” to life in Limerick

Ireland’s national tourism agency, Tourism Ireland, has produced a new online video to help promote the Limerick City of Culture’s flagship event… Royal de Luxe’s The Giant’s Journey. The Limerick City of Culture is a year long celebration which is sure to be of interest to those planning vacations in Ireland for the remainder of 2014.

The French street theatre company is coming to Limerick for three days in September. It is expected that they will be putting a massive show with crowds in excess of 200,000 expected to come to Limerick City for the spectacle.

8 Irish Universities in World Top 1,000

The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) recently collated a list of the top 1,000 third-level institutions which featured eight of Ireland‘s universities. The top also contained eight from the United States and two British universities in the top 10.

The highest ranked Irish university was Trinity College Dublin is the Irish university which was listed 200th overall. The next best ranked Irish university was University College Dublin which was ranked 269th worldwide, followed by University College Cork at 463rd on the list.
