Taking place this Saturday 4th May in the town of Wexford, is an action packed, Mexican-themed festival in honour and celebration of the life and legend of the late William Lamport, the real life ‘Irish Zorro’ who was born in Wexford town in 1611
A pirate, soldier, spy and revolutionary, Lamport was a known rebellious righter of wrongs and the writer of the first independence proclamation of the Americas, in fact a statue of “Guillen de Lampart” as he is known in Mexico still guards the tomb of their revolutionary heroes and independence monument.
To celebrate his swashbuckling ways an embracing the spirit of all things Mexican, ZorroFest 2013 there will be Spanish and Mexican-themed children’s workshops at Wexford Arts Centre, a fantastic Mexican food trail at the town’s participating restaurants and a range of other fabulous Mexican inspired events such as readings, lectures, live Mariachi music, Mexican dancers, a themed market, a parade by Bui Bolg and much more family fun for all visitors and tourists on Ireland vacations.
