Failte Ireland launch Wild Atlantic Way App

This week Fáilte Ireland released drone footage of the 2,500km Wild Atlantic Way Route, taken by filmmaker Robert Fogarty.  In addition to this Failte Ireland has also released an app which is now available to download.  The app includes everything from places to see along this now famous route, everywhere from County Donegal to County Cork as well as where to sleep and where to eat. Also featured and showcased are where and when the best festivals and local events are taking place.

The app which recently received rave reviews with a “Mobile Ireland Award” at the eGovernment Awards is available for both iOS and Android applicatons. Offering a well-researched way to explore the Irish coastline the beautifully designed app is expected to be a very popular download with those planning a vacation in Ireland.

There are thought to be 160 discovery points as well as 150 “hidden gems” which are tips sourced from locals themselves. With the “hidden gems” feature people taking a trip to Ireland will be notified with an alert when one is nearby. Most importantly the app lets you search by geo-location visitors are kept up to date on what is happening nearby right at that very moment. This means people won’t miss out in the best café, beach, festival or tips on getting the local ferry to the island.
