Fantastic Gathering events taking place in Easter and April

The good Irish weather may not feel very seasonal for this time of year, but the increase of wonderful Gathering Events and Festival can only mean that Spring has finally arrived, and with it, it brings a packed calendar of events taking place around the country.

Whether a local looking for excitement and adventure or a tourist on Ireland Vacation looking for culture, music and good food, this Easter Bank holiday weekend and in the weeks after, there is plenty of fun to be had, and with the arrival of the longer evenings, what better excuse to enjoy some of the wonderful events taking place.

With so many to highlight, it’s hard to know where to begin! But hopefully this collection will give you an idea of the diversity of events on offer in April:

Galway Food Festival: Taking place Galway from 28th March – 1st April, will celebrate and showcase the wonderful artisan, seasonal and local produce of Galway. Promising to be even bigger and better, offering visitors fantastic food and free family-friendly events over the Easter weekend

National Leprechaun Hunt:  Taking place at Foy Mountain, The Village Green Carlingford, Calingford, Co. Louth on 7th April and celebrating the protection by the E.U.in 2009 of the last remaining 236 Leprechauns still alive in Ireland. People come in their thousands every year to purchase Leprechaun Hunting Licences and to search for ceramic one’s hidden on the mountain with a total of €2000 beneath them.

The Quiet Man Gathering: The Quiet Man Festival of Events will be happening everyday from April 1st to October 31st around the Quiteman Cottage, Cong, Co. Mayo. With three special weekends taking place on the 12th of April, The 14th of June and the 13th of October 2013.

NYAH Co Cavan Traditional Music Festival: Taking place in Fairgreen Half Acre, Main Street, Cavan , Co. Cavan from 15th – 20th April, NYAH now in its 10th year, is firmly established and was recently selected by the National Music Authority as a flagship festival for the North West region. A must festival for music lovers, and attracting over 600 artists from 11 countries to take part in a packed programme of events across the county, ranging from major concerts to intimate pub sessions, with a host of extras fringe events.

The Biggest Gathering of American Vehicles: Taking place in Lougnagore – opposite Kilbeggan Racecourse, Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath on Sunday 28 April 2013, the biggest gathering of American Vehicles in Ireland will happen, with Movie Cars, Big Rigs, Pick-Up Trucks, Classic American Cars, Muscle Cars, Hot Rods, Custom Cars & Military Vehicles, Limousines, a genuine New York Transit Authority Bus, Police Cars, plus many more!
