Getting planning for the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival in October

Since it was first held in 1978, the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival has become one of Ireland premier and most successful internationally renowned musical events.

The Festival is continually growing to be bigger and better year-on-year, as thousands of visitors from all over the world travel to Cork to enjoy the city and bask in the delights that the festival has to offer.

Held over the Irish October bank holiday weekend, the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival will take place From 26th – 29th October 2012, with a few extra activities, events and street entertainment leading up to the festival for all to enjoy.

Happening in various venues throughout the City, most of which offer free entrance fee, the jazz festival has a fantastic programme of events that includes world class jazz and jazz related sounds. Throughout the years, some of the top names in jazz have played in the Cork Jazz Festival including none other than Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock and many more. This year although the programme of events as yet is unannounced, we do know that gracing the programme will be: Nataile Williams, Beach House, Phronesis and Rudresh Mahanthappa.

Attracting visitors from throughout Ireland, Europe and the USA, this renown jazz festival is one of Europe’s bests, and as always the Guinness Jazz Festival this year will be one big party, complete with buzzing atmosphere, plenty of jazz and jazz related sounds as well as street entertainment, workshops, lectures and plenty more.
