Good Evening the headlines: Anchorman 2 crew set to visit Dublin for next months premier

The long awaited sequel to “The Anchorman” that 2004 cult comedy which featured the zany antics and iconic lines of San Diego’s top-rated fictional newsreader Ron Burgundy is almost upon us after almost 10 years of waiting. And as we await the return of more tonguetastic memorable quotes and “isms” from Ron Burgendy and co in its long awaited sequel ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ premiering in December, the team have just released a special trailer for Irish audiences complete with a knowing and distinctively Irish twist.

In a special Irish centric version of the ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ trailer, especially made for the Irish fans the opening scenes come with a nod to our own iconic and very much real newsreader Anne Doyle. In the specially made clip:

the first line features a news report from RTE (Ireland‘s leading TV channel) in the eighties, in which the Wexford woman self addresses the world with her trademark line “good evening, the headlines…..”. To many of us in Ireland, Anne Doyle (who recently retired after 33 years broadcasting the news) and her trademark opening line has become a staple of our lives for decades with many of us growing up listening to her broadcasts. She has also become a popular culture icon in her own right and is no stranger to comedy, being parodied by many an Irish comedian and childrens puppet.

And the trailer piece featuring Irelands most famous newsreader is a taster for Irish Anchorman fans. For on the 9th December the films cast Will Ferrell (Ron Burgundy), Steve Carrell (Brick), Paul Rudd (Brian Fantana), David Koechner (Champ) along with the films director Adam McKay will all be at the Savoy Cinema in Dublin for the films Irish premier.

So whilst we count down the days till the premier in the words of Ron Burgundy please remember to “Stay Classy Dublin” and stay tuned for more headlines this evening.
