Ireland makes Virtuoso’s top 10 hottest destinations in the world

The luxury travel network Virtuoso has listed its top 10 hottest destinations to visit and it comes as no surprise that Ireland is listed in the top 6 destinations. This top result came from an analysis of the $35 billion worth of travel transactions.

Last Summer, Virtuoso named Ashford Castle in County Mayo as the “world’s best hotel” and they additionally recently awarded membership to the Westbury in Dublin who have now joined their network of some of the world’s best travel advisers. The list of the top 10 hottest destinations in the world comes after an analysis of travel-related transactions in North America ahead of Summer 2016, showing a 58% increase in Irish bookings.

Last Summer Ashford Castle in County Mayo, was named as the “world’s best hotel” by the leading travel network Virtuoso.

Virtuoso’s Top 10 Hottest Destinations are as follows:
1. Italy
2. UK
3. France
4. Spain
5. Netherlands
6. Ireland
7. Germany
8. South Africa
9. Greece
10. Israel

“Travellers visiting Ireland are flocking to Dublin, Cork and Galway in particular,” Virtuoso says, “along with County Laois in the centre of the country.” This is due to the many four and five star hotels in Cork, Dublin and all over the country which are popping up.

“The inclusion of Ireland at number six in this list is good news indeed. It’s another well-deserved accolade, which provides Tourism Ireland with a great hook to continue to promote the island of Ireland as a ‘must visit’ destination for American and Canadian travellers” said Alison Metcalfe of Tourism Ireland.

It was reported that 2015 was Ireland’s busiest ever year for tourism with many people travelling from various countries planning a vacation in Ireland. Additionally the first quarter results of 2016 are showing visits from North America have increased by up to 24.5%
