Irish rugby hero Brian O’ Driscoll has been voted the most admired sports star of 2013 in Ireland. O’ Driscoll returned to the top spot in 2013 having topped the poll in four out of five years. O’ Driscoll lost out to Irish boxer Katie Taylor, who took the top spot in 2012 following her tremendous success. Taylor was named in second place for 2013 as the rugby star regained the top spot.
Roy Keane (who was recently named as assistant manager of the Irish soccer team) emerged as Ireland’s third most admired sports personality. Irish soccer striker Robbie Keane came in fourth.
Some of the most admired sports stars in the top ten list include rugby stars Ronan O’Gara and Paul O’Connell along with golfers Rory McIlroy and Padraig Harrington. Corkonian athlete Sonia O’Sullivan also made the top ten on the 2013 list.
