With just over three weeks to go the countdown to the 2015 Guinness Cork Jazz Festival is well and truly on! A must for all music lovers, soak up the electric atmosphere of the Jazz Festival which is set to take Cork by storm during the October Bank Holiday Weekend. With more than 1,200 musicians and 40,000 people set to attend the festival, it is an event not to be missed.
The line up for the annual jazz event includes The Coronas, The Drifters, The Darius Brubeck Quartet, Gary Numan and Marcus Miller. Renowned as one of the best jazz festivals in Europe the festival is set to feature in more than 60 pubs, theatres, clubs and hotels in Cork.
For the past four decades the festival has attracted some of the biggest names in the music industry including Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock. Pubs in Cork will play host to top acts including The Pearly Whites, The Busquitos, Divine Intervention, Blues Brothers Banned and The Jabronis while four of Europes top street bands are additionally set to perform on the main thoroughfares.
Ideal for families visitors to Cork can also visit food markets, open air jam sessions and a jazz parade which is set to take place Sunday evening at 3pm as part of the Jazz Fringe.
The Cork School of Music is also set to host a Jazz Camp during the festival which includes workshops and masterclasses. An event not to be missed, Guinness spokesperson Rory Sheridan, said “It has been fantastic to see the festival develop to become a key cultural event in the Irish music calendar and this year is set to be even bigger and better for 2015.”
