Passenger traffic at Cork Airport increased by 19.1% in June 2016 compared with June 2015 according to the latest figures released by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).
This represents the largest monthly increase of any Irish airport in June with the volume of traffic handled by air traffic control nationally climbing by 8.1% in June.
The growth in June adds to the results for 2016 bringing year to date passenger number growth at Cork airport to 8.5%.
In a statement, head of communications at Cork Airport, Kevin Cullinane said: “This month’s figures are further evidence that 2016 is proving to be a very strong year of growth at Cork Airport. I’m very pleased to see we are leading the way nationally in terms of traffic growth to ensure our place as Ireland’s fastest growing and best connected airport outside of Dublin is maintained. We are projecting an increase of 8% overall for this year which we are well on target to meet.”
