The Dublin Theatre Festival which is happening from 27th September to 14th October 2012 is part of the Dublin Festival Season, which runs over the months of September and October.
One of Europe’s oldest specialist theatre festivals, the Dublin Theatre Festival has been on the world’s festival calendar since 1957!
Staging major international theatre on a grand scale, and having hosted productions by the world’s most acclaimed artists, as well as premiering work by those highly regard in Irish Theatre, the Dublin Theatre Festival programme of events has in the past been made up of shows by respected Irish artists; Seamus Heaney, Roddy Doyle, Brian Friel, Seastian Barry, Enda Walsh and Tom Murphy, with international acclaimed artists such as Vanessa Redgrave, James Cromwell, Neve Campbell and Geoffrey Rush appearing in stage productions.
In addition to the main stage theatre productions, the Dublin Theatre Festival includes a mixture of special events, master classes from renowned theatre greats, artist development programmes, film screenings, workshops and panel discussions, all happening at venues throughout Dublin that are ideally located close to top quality restaurants and hotels and transport links, to ensure that visitors on their Ireland Vacation can take advantage of all that Dublin has to offer whilst enjoying the many activities on the programme of events.
The 2012 Festival Programme will be announced shortly, but one act that has recently been announced and that will be featuring as part of this year’s festival is DruidMurphy, plays by Tom Murphy.
