The inaugural World Mini Games is all set to take place from Friday 23rd August in Cork as part of the Irish Gathering 2013 and in association with SpóirtFest, a not for profit organisation in Ireland that aims to promote participation in sport and raise funds for amateur sports programmes.
Promising to be ones of the sport highlights of 2013 and featuring plenty of different adult sports at different grades, the World Mini Games are open to any individual or team of any level.
The World Mini Games will feature the second Irish Sports Summit, which takes place at Cork City Hall and will be opened by the minister of State for Sport and Tourism, Michael Ring. The summit, which will bring together sportspeople and decisions makers from Ireland and around the world, will be an opportunity for all in an open forum to network, discuss and contribute to the development of Ireland’s sporting and industry success.
As well as the Irish Sports Summit, the World Mini Games will also feature the World Mini Games ActivExpo, an International Corporate Golf Tournament, World Mini Games After Dark as well as many other exciting events Sports of the Games, which include: 5 and 9 a-side football, Cricket 6’s, Gaelic Games 7s, Hockey 8’s, Rugby 7’s, Dodgeball, Poker, Speed Chess, Darts, Street Handball, Basketball 3×3, Grass Volleyball 3×3, 5k Road Race, Cycling, Flag Football and the national Deadlift Championships.
A chance to take part in an international sporting event, and to compete and socialise with people from all over the world, it is anticipated that around 5,000 people will descend on Cork for the inaugural World Mini-Games, as event organisers expect crowds from all over Ireland as well as those on Ireland Vacations to join them in Cork for the festivities and events over the 3 day, beginning on Friday 23rd August.
