Ireland’s Golfer Graeme McDowell has become the first Irish winner of the Volvo World Match Play Championships in Bulgaria.
Taking victory over Thongchai Jaidee, McDowell, who was runner up last year to his Ryder Cup team-mate Nicolas Colsaerts snatched his first European Tour title since 2010 to go with his win at the RBC Heritage on the PGA Tour last month.
This win and current form puts McDowell in great shape ahead of the 2013 Irish Open that is taking place from the 27th – 30th June at Carton House in Kildare. When along with other top Irish Golfer’s Darren Clare, Pádraig Harrington, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, McDowell will compete to become the first Irish winner of the Irish Open since 2009.
