2016 Kilkenny Arts Festival

Since its foundation in 1974 by a collection of classical music admirers. the Kilkenny Arts Festival has expanded its programme to include theatre & dance, classical music, street, literature and visual art and craft.

The popular Irish festival takes place at various locations and venues throughout Kilkenny City between the 5th and 14th August 2016, when the city comes alive with a feast of artistic entertainment for all.

Fáilte Ireland’s preliminary tourism statistics for 2015

Following on from the latest travel data statistics by the Central Statistics Office, Fáilte Ireland have just published its Tourism Facts for 2015, detailing a full report on how tourism in general and trips to Ireland fared over the year. Each year, Fáilte Ireland collects information from an array of sources including the CSO, generating an outlay of tourism performance in Ireland to share with its members of the industry and stakeholders.

Cork Airport sees massive passenger growth

Passenger traffic at Cork Airport increased by 19.1% in June 2016 compared with June 2015 according to the latest figures released by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).

This represents the largest monthly increase of any Irish airport in June with the volume of traffic handled by air traffic control nationally climbing by 8.1% in June.

The growth in June adds to the results for 2016 bringing year to date passenger number growth at Cork airport to 8.5%.

Spend from Great Britain visitors to Ireland up by 18%

Tourists visiting Ireland from Great Britain spent €33 million more between January and March 2016 than in the same period in 2015, making a vast increase of 18%. In this period, British tourists were found to have spent €214 million in the first three months of 2016 compared to €181 million during the same period in 2015.
