Hotels and Restaurants in the North and West of Ireland big winners in Georgina Campbell Awards 2015

Venues in the north and west of the Ireland were found to be big winners in a long list of food, pub, restaurant and hotel facilities at the Georgina Campbell Awards 2015.

Scooping the top prize in the country’s longest-running hospitality awards was Beach Hill House Hotel just outside of Derry who won the “Hotel of the Year” award who won praise for its dog-friendly approach combined with quality of food supplied by an historic walled garden as well as its 6km walking trails set in 42 acres of woodland.

The tourism body for Kilkenny City are offering visitors an especially cheap day out on Saturday, 11th October, for Kilkenny FREE Day.  Buildings all over the city and County Kilkenny will be open to visitors free of charge throughout the day giving both locals and those on vacation in Ireland the chance to enjoy visiting some of Kilkenny’s finest tourism attractions and to take tours of Kilkenny buildings which may not always be open to the public.

Increase in visitors to Ireland from Germany and the US

Tourism in Ireland is on the increase and businesses are reporting  a positive growth in visitor numbers from this past Summer, especially from German and US visitors. Experts are claiming that this growth is due to the Wild Atlantic Way 2500 km route, from Malin Head in County Donegal to Mizen Head in County Cork.

Guinness Cork Jazz Festival returns to the banks of the Lee

The summer may have come and gone but the month of October is always synonymous by the banks of the River Lee in Cork with the onset of the annual Jazz Festival between 23rd and 27th October 2014.

The globally renowned Guinness Cork Jazz Festival typically sees over 1,000 musicians making the trip to Ireland to take part in over 400 sessions at 70 venues across Cork City and the surrounding environs.

Increase in numbers of overseas summer trips to Ireland

According to figures released recently by the Irish Central Statistics Office (CSO), the total number of overseas trips to Ireland has seen an increase of up to 10% over the peak summer months. During the period between June and August 2014, the amount of trips to and vacations in Ireland increased by almost 9.7% to 2,484,000. This marked an overall increase of 219,200 compared to the same period in 2013.
