Boost for Irish Festivals in 2015

Tourism Ireland recently announced that it is looking to attract a record of 7.74 million visitors to Ireland next year. This will be the highest level of people taking a vacation in Ireland since 2007 and would result in a growth of up to 6% delivering €4 billion to the economy.

New York Times feature on Christmas in Dublin

Overseas visitor spending reaches €2.8 billion so far in 2014

2014 has proved to be a busy year for vacations to Ireland and this was supported by figures released by the CSO which indicated that visitor spending is up 9.3% between January and September.

The figures formed part of the Central Statistics Office’s publication entitled ‘Tourism and Travel’ which highlighted a rise of approximately €241 million in total spending by visitors during trips to Ireland from overseas over the first nine months of 2014.

Galway Continental Christmas Markets

The festive season is certainly in full swing in the West of Ireland with the Galway Continental Christmas market which is currently taking place until the 22nd December. The festival, now in its fifth year attracts over 600,000 visitors each year to Galway over the period of 30 days, promising lots of festive fun for those taking a vacation in Ireland. The festival takes place in Eyre Square in the heart of Galway city centre which has been transformed into a magical, festive Winter wonderland.

Santa is coming to Dublin Zoo this Christmas

The magical festive celebrations will be present during a trip to Ireland this Christmas, and the world renowned Dublin Zoo will be no different with Santa Claus himself due to visit between the 29th November and 24th December.

The Zoo, located in the Phoenix Park in Dublin City centre, will be transformed into an enchanting winter wonderland with its very own Grotto which will be a hive of activity with Santa’s elves hard at work in preparation for Christmas Day.
