Now in its 11th Year and proudly sponsored once again by Heinz, the 2012 Pig ‘n’ Porter Festival in association with the Irish Tag Rugby Association (ITRA) will be hosted by Old Crescent RFC and take place in their grounds in Rosbrien, Limerick on Saturday 14th July.

New Airline Service Between USA and Ireland

United Airlines have been busy celebrating the announcement of their new USA to Ireland service. The new daily nonstop service between Washington and Dublin Airport will begin shortly.

The director of sales at United Airlines, Sharon Pierce claimed “Our launch of this service speaks volumes to our commitment to offer travelers in the Washington area more domestic and international service than any other airline.”

The flights will be facilitated by a Boeing 757-200 aircraft which features 169 regular seats, 16 flat-bed seats in United Business First Class and 153 in United Economy, including 45 Economy Plus seats. These will also have additional legroom with increased personal space. Continue reading

Euro 2012- Opening Game: Ireland Zero Points

It has been a tough opening match for the Irish team in their long awaited opening game in the Euros against Croatia. Ireland’s first match in the Euros since 1988, proved disastrous with Ireland suffering their first ever opening match loss in major tournaments and also putting an end to their 14 match unbeaten run. Despite a consolation goal from Sean St Ledger, the Irish team lost 3-1 to impressive Croatia who dominated a match that was at times very messy with some controversial rulings. Continue reading

EURO 2012: Roy Keane believes Ireland has a good shot

In a telling interview, Irish veteran football player Roy Keane shared his thoughts on Ireland’s Euro 2012 chances. Olympic Flame Burns Bright in Ireland

Over the past few days the Olympic Torch has been touring Northern Ireland, passing through the areas of Port Rush, Derry and Belfast and this morning at 6:30am, Olympic Games Hero’s from 1992, medal winning boxers Wayne McCullogh and Michael Carruth took part in a handover ceremony on the border near Newry.

Euro 2012 Build up: Hungary expose Ireland’s weakness in friendly

A disappointed Giovanni Trapattoni threatened to change his Republic of Ireland line-up for Sunday’s Euro 2012 opener against Croatia following the poor display against Hungary in a friendly game.

Ireland were played off the field by the Hungarian team who are placed 17 spots below them in the official rankings. The friendly exposed all of Ireland’s weak spots leading Croatia’s coach Slaven Bilic who watched the game, to remark that Ireland play “very simple football and don’t take risks”. Continue reading
