This summer there are many music festivals to be enjoyed up and down the country that have attracted some well known international acts to the bill!
With so much choice, there is sure to be something to suit everyone’s musical tastes this summer, and for dedicated music lovers, there is no better way to spend the summer than enjoying a feast of festivals whilst basking in the beauty of Ireland as you travel between each one!
With so many music festivals happening, we decided to pick a selection from all over the country.
Strawberry Fest 2012 taking place 1st – 3rd June in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, is a new take on one of Irelands longest established town festivals. On the bill and already announced are Maverick Sabre, The Original Rudeboys and Mikill Payne, Bressie, The Saw Doctors, The Complete Stone Roses, Status Quo, Key West, Bipolar Empire, Seven Summits, Swords, The Hot Sprockets and as well as music, there will be plenty of family events, fringe events and pub events happening.
Tramore Bluegrass festival taking place 1st – 4th June in Tramore, County Waterford is a family based festival celebrating the return of an Irish Traditional Music to our shores from the ones who emigrated during famine times but that kept the musical traditions alive by handing this down through the generations! Although popular all over America, with hundreds of them happening throughout the year, this is the 1st International Bluegrass Festival to be hosted in Tramore.
Pop Picnic is taking place on 3rd June in Tramore Racecourse, Co Waterford and is a non alchohl event aimed at the young. The Line up includes Jedward, Twist and Pulse, Charles Pasi and DJ Ahmed. The live acts for this year for Pop Picnic will include: Jedward, Twist & Pulse, Charles Pasi and DJ Ahmed as well as other acts and there will be additional attractions such as fun fair, surf simulator and disco.
Westport Festival is taking place 23rd – 24th June in Westport, County Mayo. A two day event, with three stages set in the grounds of Westport House Pirate Adventure Park, families will be able to enjoy the live music from the likes of: The Waterboys, Alison Moyet, Ray Davies, Nick Lowe, The Dubliners, Mundy, Hothouse Flowers, Tom Baxter, Damien Dempsey, Lloyd Cole and Duke Special as well as the rides such as Pirates Swinging Ship and Cannonball Run Slide.
Sea Sessions Surf and Musical Festival is taking place on 29th June – 1st July in Bundoran, Co. Donegal. A three day event by the sea that mixes music from the likes of Happy Mondays, Kasier Chiefs, the Corona’s, Rev Run (Run D.M.C.) & DJ Ruckus, Beardy Man, Crazy P and many more with some of Europe’s best surfers in high energy contest, as well as additional events such as beach soccer, beach tag rugby, Beach Volleyball and Handball.
