One of Europe’s biggest outdoor events, The National Ploughing Championships, takes place at Ratheniska in County Laois between 22nd & 24th September. This will be the 84th time the festival takes place to showcase the best of Irish food, farming and culture.
The annual festival is taking place on over 800 acres with 1,400 exhibitors and has become a firm favourite in the Irish festival and agricultural calender. Its popularity was evident when almost 279,500 visitors attended the event in 2014.
The National Ploughing Championships brings together competitors from across the country and Northern Ireland with as many as 350 entrants due to be involved this year over the 3 days.
Events include machinery demonstrations, prizewinning livestock, live entertainment, tented trade villages, cookery and craft demonstrations, food fairs, pony treks, a forestry village, sheep dog trials, fashions shows, music and dancing and much more!
Other eagerly anticipated additions to the programme for 2015 include a Festi’Kids Crèche, a Tractor Ted Arena, A Driving Challenge, the Foroige Junior Baker and lots more, Ireland’s Farming Festival is not to be missed.
