Since its foundation in 1974 by a collection of classical music admirers. the Kilkenny Arts Festival has expanded its programme to include theatre & dance, classical music, street, literature and visual art and craft.
The popular Irish festival takes place at various locations and venues throughout Kilkenny City between the 5th and 14th August 2016, when the city comes alive with a feast of artistic entertainment for all.
What makes the festival so unique is a desire of organisers to bring work to Kilkenny that otherwise would not have been seen anywhere else aside from the festival itself. This desire is also evident in their determination to commission and produce new work from both Ireland and abroad.
