First airing on 3rd October 1988, the hour long nightly news show RTE “Six One” today celebrates 25 years on air.
The informative current affairs show that is watched by homes throughout Ireland, brings the nation the news, sport and weather from around the country and world and was originally co-presented by Sean Duignan and Eileen Dunne, and at the time was deemed one of the most important developments in news broadcasting since the establishment of RTE by then head of RTE television news.
The popular show has become an Irish institution and it’s not just a must for those living in Ireland but has become a favourite with those on Ireland Vacations as a source for current news and weather.
