Ireland’s very own golfer Shane Lowry arrived into Dublin Airport to be welcomed by well wishers and fans in the wake of his fantastic win at the Portugal Masters by one stroke on Sunday that sealed his professional status and saw him jump 54 places in the world rankings to number 74.
Lowry, 25 from Clara, county Offaly become only the second player ever to win both as an amateur and a professional on the European tour through his recent win and he arrived back to Ireland with proud parents wearing the black and white club colours of Clara, which had brought him so much luck.
Lowry who is sure to have continued with the celebrations in his home town of Clara, Co Offaly, honed his golfing skills here in Ireland, which boasts some of the finest golf course in the world and has an array of championship golf course that have tested the golfing elite in major championships as well as number of visitors here on golf vacations in Ireland.
With such fantastic golfing facilities in Ireland, it is no surprise that the world’s rankings is being topped by Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, who is not only the current World Number One but a two-time major champion.
