Garth Brooks to rock Croke Park once again in summer 2014

Garth Brooks has announced that he will be returning to Ireland this summer with a concert at the home of the Gaelic Games Association (GAA), Croke Park, in Dublin. The legendary American country music singer and songwriter will perform over two nights in July 2014.

It has been almost 17 years since Garth Brooks made his last trip to Ireland to entertain over 150,000 of his adoring Irish fans in Dublin back in May 1997. It looks like our favourite astronaut from last year is back to enliven and entertain us with more inspiring and entertaining tweets and videos, this time about his time on earth, in Ireland to be exact, as opposed to space. Ireland’s national tourism development authority, Fáilte Ireland, has compiled a list of the top 10 visited free and paid tourist attractions in Ireland. Extended Irish Rugby squad for 6 Nations announced

This week the IRFU officially announced their Extended Squad for RBS 6 Nations and 02 Ireland Wolfhounds. During the 2013 season, Ireland endured there worst 6 Nations campaign in 14 years. Despite making a promising start with 40 minutes of top class rugby against Wales in their opening game, a lose of confidence and some surprising selections saw the Irish side lose their way in the championship.   Continue reading

Storms reveal Irish archaeological treasures from the Neolithic period

Ireland has been subjected to a barrage of wind and rain over recent weeks but these recent storms that have battered Ireland’s countryside and coastlines have revealed an archaeological treasure amidst the devastation to surrounding properties and landscape.

The storms have exposed evidence of life on the Emerald Isle dating back to the Neolithic period on Connemara’s Omey island. Large linear archaeological deposits of up to a meter thick have been exposed on the western and northern shorelines of the tidal island off Claddaghduff.   Continue reading

Fota Island Resort to host 2014 Irish Open

The 2014 Irish Open will return to Cork for the first time in 12 years after confirmation that the magnificent Cork Golf Club at Fota Island Resort, which was recently purchased by Chinese investors The Kang Group Worldwide, will become an Official Sponsor as well as host venue of the Championship.

The Irish Open was last played on the challenging Deerpark parkland course at Fota Island in 2002 which saw Denmark’s Søren Hansen claim the title. The Resort also hosted the Championship in 2001, when Colin Montgomerie won the last of his three Irish Opens.   Continue reading
