Giro d’Italia 2014 Irish stages announced

The exact details of the three stages of the 2014 Giro that will be taking place in Ireland this summer have been announced.

The Giro d’Italia will start in Ireland and race here for over three days. Stage one will see time trials whizz around a 22 km time trial around the iconic sights of Belfast; a stage two race looping around the north Antrim coast encompassing the magnificent Causeway Coast and rural Antrim before a final cross border stage starting in the beautiful city of Armagh. The race will then track along the east coast and finish its Ireland visit in the heart of Dublin City. The three week long Giro d’Italia will then continue in Italy.

If you are planning on taking a trip to Ireland, the latest trend on Ireland’s “must see list” are magic roads.  Yes, we joke you not, Ireland’s ‘magic roads’ are ‘a thing’ – a stretch of roadway, usually well off the beaten track and hidden up a succession of byways and boreens, where if you stop the car and let the handbrake off, the vehicle will mysteriously and eerily roll uphill.

World set to go green once more for St Patrick’s Day with new landmarks and buildings added…

As we know 17th March, St Patrick’s Day is the day in which Ireland joyously celebrates its heritage and traditions in spectacular parades, fun and light-hearted revelry and also the day that the world joins in, in the celebrations and temporarily goes green. And over the past few years that saying has taken on a new dimension both literally and figuratively as not only do many people worldwide celebrate their Irish roots and Irish connections by donning a sprig of shamrock, wearing green and celebrating everything Irish for one day, but thanks to Operation Global Greening set-up in the past few years many of the worlds most noted landmarks and buildings temporarily glow literally green, with an emerald green light shone on them.

Ireland handed stern test in UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers

The draw for the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying groups was made recently and has pitted the Republic of Ireland against European soccer giants Germany and Celtic cousins, Scotland. Both Ireland and Germany have recently faced each other during the 2014 World Cup qualifying process which saw the Germans come out on top comfortably on both occasions.

John B Keane’s famous play “Sive” returns to the Abbey Theatre

Theatre lovers out there and fans of Ireland’s great literary tradition will no doubt be happy to hear the one of our most beloved writers John B Keane’s play “Sive” is currently playing at Dublin‘s famous Abbey Theatre (12th February – 12th April) over half a century after the theatre initially rejected it. “Sive” a tragic story about a beautiful young girl sold against her will in a match to an elderly farmer was written by the late John B Keane over 55 years ago in 1959 and was his second play and the one that helped to bring the talented playwright and writer to public consciousness back in the day and to the place where he is now noted as one of our greatest literary artists.  Continue reading →

Ireland & Britain to collaborate in Dual Visa Scheme

US property developer and entrepreneur Donald Trump has confirmed the news that he has purchased the iconic Doonbeg Golf Club in County Clare.
