Gathering at the Great Limerick Run 2013

This year of the Irish Gathering, the Great Limerick run taking place on Sunday 5th May aims to be bigger and better than ever before.

Sponsored by Barringtons Hospital in Limerick, the Great Limerick Run is one of the most competitive and mass participation sporting events happening in Ireland and in just 3 years is firmly placing itself as one of Ireland’s premier events in the national sporting calendar.

The fastest growing participatory event in Ireland, with over 8,500 race entrants registering last year, the Great Limerick Run attracted in 2012 participants from all 32 counties in Ireland as well as runners from over 23 countries worldwide, with many visitors choosing to combine participation in the event with their Ireland Vacations.

Encourages individuals to compete within the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay, 6 Mile Races or specially designed kids races for 4-12 years old, the Great Limerick Run has a race to suit everyone – so whether young or old, a competitive athlete, an occasional runner, serious about fitness, doing it for fun or working as part of a team, there is an event for you.

A fantastic day for both participants and supporters, the route meanders through Limerick City, which located in the mid west on the banks of the river Shannon is the third largest city in Ireland and a city rich with heritage and history that in 2011 was recognised as the sporting capital of Ireland receiving the title of European City of Sport.
